Those who can’t (or shouldn’t) craft, buy handmade gifts. I was born into this category. My sisters got all of the creativity genes. I just don’t have the attention span or raw natural talent to be a great craftsperson. My mom and dad are quite talented in this area too, so I’m the black sheep in the family when it comes to crafting.
These days you don’t have to be craft inclined to give beautiful handmade gifts. Etsy has been around for a while, and now Amazon is even getting in on the handmade action.
Fiber Arts
If you haven’t noticed yet, I am a sentimental softie. I love coming across things that remind me of simpler times. As I was researching fiber arts, the preppy sailor’s bracelet that I got at the beach one summer as a child jumped out at me. Mystic Knotwork is the oldest knot shop in the U.S., and as luck would have it, they have an Amazon Handmade store. Some of my favorite potential purchases are below.

For the makers out there, I did find one Amazon seller with DIY macrame kits that has good reviews.
After writing my blog post about macrame and meeting a local artist, I just can’t bring myself to list Amazon links to macrame wall hangings and plant holders. I want to send everyone to craft fairs to find these macrame artists so that they can see the goods in person. You can also find several great craftspeople on Etsy, but there are far too many styles and sizes to start picking out options. You’re going to need to check it out.
